Our Storey

Beginnings- 2013

Welcome to the Horton & Storey ‘Our Storey’ page.

Our co-founders, Justyn Horton and Tom Storey met while working at Dixons Estate Agency in 2013. Tom left Dixons after a year to pursue a career in Chartered Surveying, while Justyn continued to grow as one of Dixons’ most successful senior branch managers and trainers.

2015

Tom was in his final year of training after finishing his Master’s Degree at Birmingham City University. A chance meeting with the new owners of CPBigwood led to a late-night phone call with Justyn, where Tom pitched the Head of the Birmingham agency to his old colleague.  After a successful recruitment drive, Justyn became the head of the agency, with Tom managing the New Business department. Justyn made his first hire, Tom as his deputy.

2017

With rumours that the agency would be sold, Justyn and Tom leapt to set up their agency. Horton & Storey was born. Even with COVID-19 and Brexit, the partnership performed exceptionally, becoming the fastest-growing agency in the Solihull market.

2021/2022

Tom was nominated for the Young Residential Surveyor of the Year Award, and the surveying business expanded around Solihull. In 2022, the firm was a UK finalist for the Small Agency of the UK at the Negotiator Awards. Meanwhile, they expanded their lettings service with a key hire in Charlotte Ford as Senior Property Manager.

2023

Due to continued success, the firm launched the Move Mentor Method, which now sees them as the highest-rated agency on Google across South Birmingham and Solihull. It also sees launches across Bournville, Barnt Green, and Kings Norton.
